Abstract
This work is a descriptive study exploring the theme of power, propaganda and
manipulation of language. It is based on R. Cialdini’s Social Proof Theory (1984). This
theory suggests that people tend to look to others’ actions and behaviours to determine
what is correct or appropriate in uncertain situations. The study emphasizes how
language is strategically used by those in power to manipulate reality and maintain an
authoritarian control over the masses. Through content analysis, it reveals how Orwell
illustrates repetition, fear and paradox as strategies of manipulating truth and
maintaining power in Animal Farm. The study warns of the dangers of uncritical
adherence to authority and the manipulative power of language in a world shaped by
media influence and mass persuasion.
