Abstract :

This article aims to represent the fight conducted by African women to subvert phallocentric norms. Through the lens of feminism, this insight first discloses features that actually present women’s humiliations. Second, female empowerment is stressed. Z. Mda proposes an inter-gender struggle in which women, belonging to the female gender, stand against the male gender and their patriarchal system in a third instance. This struggle is seen as a means used by women to challenge the phallocentric ideologies. The last section deals with the remapping of gender roles. After their successful campaign, women reorganize their society.
